Jade Sterling Steel is in one our nation’s premier wire rod distribution centers.  Wire rod is used in a wide range of grades and conditions and may be produced in a variety of diameters. A common size is 7/32″ (5.5 mm), although wire rod coils may also be supplied up to, and as large as 1″.

Wire rod coils may be supplied in a variety of grades such as 1018, 1035, 1040, 1541, 4130, 4140, 4150, 4340, 5160, 8620, A572, A36 and 1215. Depending on the demands of the application, wire rod may be supplied as merchant quality, industrial quality or cold heading quality.

Merchant quality wire rod coils may be used for less demanding applications like concrete reinforcing mesh and fencing, while industrial quality wire rod may be used to produce a variety of shaped products such as nails, wire forms, reinforced netting, shelving and anchor bolts.

For more demanding applications such as bolts, fasteners, nuts, machined parts (with strict final inspections), cold heading quality wire rod coils may be a better option.

Wire rod coils can be made softer through the process of annealing. Some customers prefer to purchase coils that have been cleaned and coated through the process of pickle and lime.  Others prefer clear coat, borax, phosphate or polymer type coatings depending on the application.

Through our extensive knowledge and long term relationships with several major mills, Jade Sterling is able to provide wire rod coils at some of the most competitive prices in the industry. With access and availability to numerous processors, we also have the capacity to provide wire rod as drawn, annealed, cleaned and coated.

With four major warehouses located in Cleveland and Chicago and satellite warehouses strategically placed, we are able to ensure quick delivery of wire rod as well as blanket type programs for delivery as and when needed.

Jade Sterling takes great pride in the experience of our employees – many of whom have been with us for over 20 years.  Their vast knowledge of wire rod coils and our full line of products is what gives Jade-Sterling the edge over other distributors.
