General Information about 1541 Steel and 1541 Round Bar

1541 steel is a medium carbon / manganese grade and may be supplied in its hot rolled condition, cold drawn, rough turned or turned and polished.  Cold drawing 1541 steel will increase the mechanical properties, improve the size tolerance and enhance the surface.

1541 round bar is often produced in lengths. A typical length for hot rolled bar is 20′, although certain mills may have the capacity to roll a variety of lengths depending on the diameter and application. 1541 steel may also be supplied as a cold drawn product, both by length and in wire rod form. A common length of 1541 round bar is 12′, although it may be supplied in a variety of lengths depending on the usage. A typical wire rod size is around 4,000 #. In order to meet specific mechanical properties, 1541 steel may be cold drawn and or heat treated.

Applications

1541 round bar can be used for cold formed bolts. 1541 steel is also used in making heat treated “U” bolts. 1541 round bar is a popular choice used for a variety of construction anchor bolts.  Applications for these types of bolts are muffler clamps and band clamps. These types of clamps are often used in a variety of industries, including agricultural and automotive. Depending on the application, 1541 round bar is produced in a wide range of sizes from very small to much larger diameters.

Composition

1541 steel consists of carbon, .36/44, manganese, .1.35/1.65, phosphorus, .04 (max.), sulfur, .05 (max.) and silicon, .15/.35.
